This page walks you through accessing the room, turning on your camera and changing which camera (or microphone) you're using (if you have more than one connected to your computer).
From the DudesNude home page, click Cam in the top menu. If you don't see it, your profile is not approved yet. If that persists for more than 48 hours, check your email, we've probably already explained why.
The main page will initially look like this (the mobile view is somewhat more compact, due to available screen size. There are small arrows on the participants list and status message that allow you to hide/reveal them).
At the top left is the current count of people in the room, the count of people looking at your feed (if you turned your camera on, see below) and below that is the status message and the option to turn on notifications in the main chat, when someone turns on their cam. To the left is the main chat window, to the right is the list of who’s in the room (participants).
Sorting the participants
There are 4 ‘sort by’ options at the top of the list. Time in room (clock), alphabetical order (a-z), who’s broadcasting (cam icon), and who’s looking at your feed, if it’s on, see below (eye icon). Click one to sort the list.
Communicating
Click the pic of any person (either in the list or participants, in the main chat or if you have their cam feed open) to see a pop up menu like this
1. View profile (on the main site, this will open in a new tab).
2. Whisper will send a private message, in the main chat window (only you and him can see it).
3. Mention will appear in the main chat, from you, with his name attached, and everyone can see it.
4. View public cam will open his cam reed (only shown if his cam is on).
5. Private chat opens a new window (inside the main window) for back and forth chat.
6. Private cam invites him to a 1-1 cam session that nobody else can see.
7. Mute hides him from the main chat window, but please send me a screen grab (support@dudesnude.com) if someone is being abusive.
If you want to block someone from seeing your cam, that is done via block on the main site. Open his profile (see 1. above) and click the block button at the top.
Viewing someone’s cam
There are various ways to do this. I recommend you sort the participants into ‘broadcasting’ order (see above).
Anyone broadcasting will have an eye icon next to their name. Click it, and the feed will open overlaying the main chat section of the window. That feed can be moved around by dragging and dropping the white bar at the top of the open feed. Click the x top right to close that feed..
You can also open their feed from their communication menu (see above).
Turning your camera on
Look to the top right of the cam page. You'll see a small cam icon with a toggle switch beside it. The icon will be grey while your camera is off.
1. Click the toggle. Your browser will ask you for permission to use your camera and microphone (unless you previously allowed permission). Important: When your browser asks which camera to use, choose your actual camera — for example your laptop's built-in webcam, or a USB webcam you've plugged in. Do not select a virtual camera (from software like OBS, ManyCam, Snap Camera, etc.). Virtual cameras may work, but they may also cause issues.
2. Once you grant permission, your camera feed will appear in the top right corner of the page. The cam icon will change from grey to blue to show your camera is active.
Switching to a different camera or microphone
If you have more than one camera or microphone connected to your computer, you can swap between them. You need to activate the default cam first.
1. Look at the top-right corner of your camera feed. You'll see two small icons: a microphone and a gear. (see above).
2. Click the gear icon. A Choose Camera popup will appear with two dropdowns — one for Camera and one for Microphone.
3. Pick the camera (or microphone) you want to use from the dropdown. Your feed will switch to the new device.
4. Click Close.
The microphone icon
The microphone icon at the top of your camera feed (see above) shows your mic status and lets you mute yourself:
- Blue — your microphone is on. Other members can hear you.
- Grey — your microphone is off (muted).
Click the icon to toggle it on or off. If the icon stays grey when you click it, that means you didn't grant microphone permission when your browser first asked. To fix this, you'll need to reset the site's permissions in your browser settings and click the cam toggle again.
